L’Anthropocène en terrain miné

The reserach institute ESPHIN organises a conference on where, how and why to extract geological resources in the future Anthropocene. Johan Yans (Geology) will illustrate the considerable challenges, on how to align four a priori contradictory objectives: the rational use of non-renewable natural resources, profitable growth for industries, the satisfaction of increased consumer needs and how to deal with the syndrome NIMBY (not in my backyard). A real transdisciplinary issue that must be tackled combining sociology, economics, pedagogy, communication, environment, law, (geo)politics, history, philosophy, ethics, geology (including related sciences/disciplines) and engineering!
