The immense diversity of ILEE
The variety of topics presented during talks and flash presentations during the ILEE Research Day on May 30 was impressive, reaching from the history of industrial abbeys, underground rivers, twitter and facebook posts, earthquakes, fish, parasitoids & rotifers to high-resolution molecular spectroscopies. The 40 participants further appreciated the two excellent key note talks: Robert Malina from UHasselt told us all about the CMK, the Centre for Environmental Sciences he presides – so much to learn for ILEE from their 25years experience! Farid Dahdouh-Guebas (ULB) literally took the audience away to the fascinating world of mangroves. Bastien Vispoel (Physics) and Anthony Mathiron (Biology) convinced for the price for the best poster and oral presentation – Congratulations!!
The general assembly and a glass of local beer/wine perfectly closed the day at the Quai 22.
