ILEE's annual scientific conference with oral and poster presentations by ILEE affiliates was a wonderful success. Everybody was impressed by the high quality of presentations, the variety of topics and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere during coffee and lunch breaks.
Special congratulations go to Boris Hespeels (Biology), who convinced the jury with his outstanding talk about a "Space Project"!
Our last minute special guests: Robertina Šebjanič and Marco Barotti, two scientific artists, gave us a glimpse of their art work presenting their common project: "Fossilized Future: Insect Symphonies Across Time", which explores the tension between deep time, and the present future, creating bridges between ancient ecosystems, contemporary landscapes, and speculative futures. It centres on the 365-million-year-old fossil Strudiella devonica (found in the region of Namur) and the twin river systems of La Meuse and La Sambre. It presents how insects like Strudiella devonica bridge aquatic and terrestrial realms. The project investigates the flow of time, and interspecies coexistence by blending disciplines such as archaeology, futurology, quantum biology, ecology, natural & cultural heritage and mythology.
ILEE members will be honoured to collaborate with them to prepare the Co-Vision project, that will be presented in Namur end of 2025.
ILEE was grateful for financial support
to organise this conference
by the Fonds Adrian Bauchau.
See here the pictures of the day, taken by Julie Hétru (Biology)!
