Strategies for the supply of stones for medieval building sites (12th-16th century) - Review of recent interdisciplinary research

The combination of several factors led to different strategies for supplying lithic resources to construction sites in the Middle Ages: the ambitions of a project, the technical constraints of the architecture, the knowledge of the available geological resources and the methods of their extraction and, finally, the financial means required for the purchase of materials and their transport. For several years now, the interdisciplinary analysis of the strategies for supplying medieval building sites in the "Mosane region" has mobilised archaeologists and geologists from UNamur. This presentation will be an opportunity to present the results of this collaborative research.

The presentation will be in French!
