DIADeM final conference

Taking medication is something we do on a daily basis without thinking about the consequences. However, it can make our rivers more fragile. The molecules consumed by man are discharged into waste water. Some of it returns to our rivers after treatment. The effects of these so-called "emerging" pollutants are not well known. So what strategies should be developed to better monitor the quality of river water and protect its biodiversity?
For 4 years, 17 French and Walloon partners (P. Kestemont & F. De Laender of ILEE) coordinated their expertise to better understand the potential toxicity of several drug molecules and develop an original method. Objective: to improve the diagnosis of river water quality and to offer more efficient tools to water managers. Now, it is time to present the results.
