Victoria Moris (Biology) - New receptor family (GPCR) responding to volatile pheromones in the marine worm Platynereis dumerilii

Chemical detection is essential for behaviors like mating in both marine and terrestrial animals, but marine species' chemosensory systems are less studied so far. The marine worm Platynereis dumerilii is a promising species for studying chemosensation, as its pheromones have been identified. Victoria's research focuses on identifying chemoreceptors for P. dumerilii pheromones and on exploring the impacts of ocean acidification on chemically mediated behaviors, combining techniques like field sampling, transcriptomics, GPCR deorphanization, in situ hybridization and modelling.

Julien Poot (Geology) - Mineralogy of the supergene Cu-Pb-Zn deposits in Morocco

The Bou Skour deposit (Anti-Atlas, Morocco) has an economic interest because of its primary mineralization rich in Cu; reserves are estimated at 56 Mt with 0.8% of Cu.

This deposit is currently undergoing weathering leading to the formation of secondary minerals which can concentrate various metals such as Zn, Pb, As, Mo, Sb, Ag and Bi.
