Exploring the Iron Age

Fanny Martin (History of Art & Archaeology) invites us to visit her study site of this summer close to Tintigny (Gaume) to discover a large necropolis with tombs of the late Iron Age (unfortunately, the site is closed now, but there are still things to discover!). Another place we will visit is the biggest fortified town during the Iron Age in Belgium, the “Tranchée des Portes” (Trench of the Gates), where the ramparts have been reconstructed. We then continue to the Abbey of Orval to have lunch and have a guided tour of the Abbey and the garden with medicinal plants & nature reserve. You will have some time to buy a crate of Orval and cheese before returning to Namur.

See here a TV report on the excavation site with Fanny in July (in French)
