Let's go deep

We will explore the Cave of Lorette (Rochefort), the "little sister" of the Cave of Han, going as deep as 60 meters below ground!

Located in the heart of the Unesco Global Geopark "Famenne-Ardenne", the Cave of Lorette has developed within the karstic system of the Lomme at Rochefort. We will discover this exceptional site by visiting the underground laboratory called "Val d'Enfer". An excellent opportunity to better understand the characteristics of our groundwater, which will be increasingly solicited to meet our water needs. In the afternoon, we will explore the fascinating "karstic" landscapes around Han-sur-Lesse and round up the day with a refreshing drink before returning to Namur. 

Proposed programme:

9h: Departure from UNamur by bus

10h00: Reception at the grotte de Lorette

10h15: Objectives and specificities of the UNESCO Geopark "Famenne-Ardenne" (presentation by Alain Petit - Director)

10h35: The karst system of the Lomme (illustrated by members of the geology department)

11h: Visit to the Lorette cave (Group 1) - Visit to the Nau Moulin (Group 2)

12h: Visit to the Nau Moulin (Group 1) - Visit to the Lorette cave (Group 2)

13h: Lunch 

14h: Excursion "karstic" landscapes around Han-sur-Lesse

16h30: closing drink at the Cave of Lorette

17h30: Return to UNamur by bus (arrival at about 18h15)
