Instructions for presenters
General information for presenters
- The major part of your audience does NOT belong to your discipline!
- Simplify / popularise
- Important: the broader vision – Why do you do this? Why is it important? What do you expect? How do you do it?
- No unnecessary details
- Preferred language is English - please contact me in case this is difficult for you
- PhD students can ask for one credit point
- Please upload your presentations here (Dead line 28.03.24, 15h00!)
Posters
- We ask you to also present "on stage" for 5 min
- Prepare 5 slides (max) for this teaser!
- Please upload your slides here (Dead line 28.03.24, 15h00!)
- Poster: Format A0 or A1, portrait
- Use a font that is large enough: 85 pt font for the main title, 36 pt for subheadings, 24 pt for body text, and 18 pt for captions.
- Less text (try to limit to <250 words in total!) = more visitors to your poster.
- Remember: a poster is a visual abstract of your research!
- Can you present your methods as an illustration rather than text? Can you present your results in a graph instead of a table? Go for it!
- If you want to look at further tips (colours, space, etc…), see for example here, or a nice one here
Oral presentations
- 15 min (+ 5 min discussion)
- Font size from 18 to 36 pt
- Tips for oral presentations – there are plenty! For example here
- Create each slide as a single message unit.
- Explicitly state that single message on the slide.
- Avoid bullet points-opt for word tables.
- Use simple diagrams.
- Build up your slide while talking
Don't forget that there is a nice reward waiting for the best oral AND the best poster presentation!
